What Is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Spinal decompression therapy is an evidence-based, non-invasive means of relieving pain in the neck and lower back areas of the spine. The machine produces an intermittent sequence of pulling and release, calibrated to the patient’s condition and based on their care plan. Most patients find the motion comfortable, and some even fall asleep.

Prior to starting treatment, Dr. Peck sets the computerized program. The patient is strapped in position, and the traction begins its computerized sequence of pulls and releases. This motion gently stretches the spine, creating a negative pressure between the vertebrae, allowing the disc to move back into its proper position.

When spinal decompression therapy is used in conjunction with chiropractic care, our patients find they get better results, and the area is structurally sound, so the disc is more likely to stay in place.
